We’re always intrigued by the latest audible iterations on our favorite classics. It’s even more exciting when stars like Scarlett Johansson get in on the action — lending their voices to a production of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

What makes the project even more fun is that Scarlett teamed up with her sister (Vanessa) on the project — to bring new life to one of my favorite classics. It was a throw-back to the time when they were kids. Vanessa told EW: “As kids we were always creating silly characters and funny voices — working on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was a great opportunity to be playful together in that way. Scarlett has a great range to her voice and she’s not afraid to make strong choices. It was fun to take full advantage of those qualities in order to create an audio world for all of these fabulous characters.”

It’s quite a cast of characters: Alice, her sister, the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts, the King of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, the Duchess, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Doremouse, the Gryphon, the Mock Turtle, the Mouse, the Dodo, the Cook, the Pidgeon, the Frog-Footman, and an ever-more-varied mass of other eclectic and creative creatures.

It’s curious to see what each new adaptation will lend to the tale, but it’s also fun to imagine the process of creating the audible adventure!
