In the maelstrom of the Harry Potter mania, 20 years have nearly passed us by… Yep, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published in 1997, which makes 2017 the 20th Anniversary. And, it’s time to party!
As you can well imagine, the planning has only just begun… and this is also a celebration of books. So, as the Harry Potter publisher, Bloomsbury is releasing new editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. There’s one for every Hogwarts house, so you can select your favorite: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin. (Of course, if you can’t decide which one you want, you could also buy/collect all of them!)

The celebrate will take off in all new directions, though, when the British Library launches their Harry Potter exhibit on October 20, 2017. It really is the perfect place to celebrate Harry Potter… Imagine all the possibilities — with dragons, the philosopher’s stone, magic and mystery. Oh my…
And then, there’s the book itself: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. There’s the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, her other books, an exploration of British writers, and the fact that we will be in the presence of all the greatest volumes that have been passed down to us.
I imagine it will be amazing and ground-breaking, but I also believe that my musings probably won’t do the display full justice. The exhibition will offer a whole new kind of wonder to a place that’s already magical. As Jamie Andrews, Head of Culture and Learning at the British Library, said: “We at the British Library are thrilled to be working with J.K. Rowling and with Bloomsbury to mark the twentieth anniversary of Harry Potter, and to inspire fans with the magic of our own British Library collections.”
