Much debate and controversy has quickly erupted over the obvious dislike and consternation of J.K. Rowling toward the newly elected Donald Trump. She doesn’t pull punches, makes no apologies… just says it like she sees it, which you’d gotta appreciate. Here’s her most recent Twitter missive, which has quickly taken social media (and the world) by storm:
Those teeny little fingers are within twitching distance of the nuclear codes. We’re all in it, up to our necks. https://t.co/9xWbSKKXRl

Yes, there’s a solidarity in her message. “We’re all in it,” she says. “[U]p to our necks.” You might easily imagine the quagmire in which we find ourselves. Quicksand. And, the person with “teeny little finger” is “within twitching distance of the nuclear codes.”
Rowling might as well be revisiting her classic literature roots, with Edmund Burke, who so famously said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” And, even famous author and international phenomenon that she is, she will not stand by and be silent.
Dark Times Ahead
Yes, her words resonate across the social media spheres, but we can also find poignant moments when we revisit her novels. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Albus Dumbledore says: “Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what it right.” In these “dark times” of modernity, is it any wonder that Rowling chose the “right” path, with all her wit and wisdom?
